What is the benefit funding here instead of waiting for final release?
You'll benefit from the immensive reduced prices for the licenses. Whatever package you choose, you'll save hundreds of €os against buying when final is released.
Why not developing that plugin inhouse?
It's up to you developing such a plugin by your own, but be aware that my forecast is about 120 hours for the basic functionality and creating an stable, upgradeable and most compatible solution with a smooth admin panel. Additionally, don't forget amount of effort to get that plugin compatible for future versions of Drupal and IP.board.
Why not waiting for a solution for free?
You can wait for that. Or you are paying just at least 49 € to a person who lives from developing this. Additionally, I depend on releasing a good product to sell even more licenses after this fundraising campaign. An opensource&free author has not this stimulus.
Is there any risk that the plugin will not be developed?
Since IPBWI for WordPress is the most compatible, most functionary and most used IP.board Single Sign On Plugin with Business Support on the web, you can trust my credibility. Additionally, I've choosed the most trusted crowdunding plattform in Germany. The only reason why IPBWI for Drupal will not be developed is when the 1200 € goal is not reached.
Why using startnext.de instead of kickstarter.com als crowdfunding plattform?
Since kickstarter.com does not accept users outside from USA, I've decided using the Germany's leading non-profit organization startnext.de for crowdfunding. Payment is possible via paypal (worldwide) and bank-wire-transfer (Europe).
Additionally, startnext.de does not charge any fee for doing that service as non profit organization. So every cent you'll pay will be invested in the plugin development, on other plattforms there are up to 10% disagio lost. If you pay via paypal, the paypal fees will reduce my income on a reasonable value for providing international payment service.
What occurs when the 1200 € goal is not reached?
It makes no sense to develop a plugin where is no market, so I'll not develop the plugin and 100% of your money will be transfered back to your bank account from startnext.de
[b][i]When will IPBWI for Drupal be available?
Right after the funding period is over and at least 1200 € is funded, I'll start developing the plugin. All funders with access to beta will get at least weekly updates of the beta. The final will be finished within 4-6 Weeks. If there are more than 1500 € funded, each additional step will take each about two additionally weeks.
In short: Final with core functionality (login/logout/registration) is done and released within 4-6 weeks. All additional features will be released after that in 2-Weeks-steps.
Will be IPBWI for drupal opensource?
Unfortunately, I can not make the software opensource. As I have a very small market share with that kind of product, every pirate copy of the software would totally knock me out. I am a solo programmer who lives from every license which has been sold. I love the opensource community, so I've released IPBWI API to GPL, but I've decided to release the out-of-the-box plugins like IPBWI for WordPress and IPBWI for Drupal closed source. Nevertheless, the core will be encoded only. IPBWI API (which is used in the plugins) and Widgets-Output code will be opensource to allow maximum customization.
Which requirements exist for IPBWI for Drupal?
- PHP 5
- SQL Database compatible with Drupal and IP.board
- Drupal 7 latest release
- IP.board 3.3.x
- The software will be encoded via Ioncube. You have to get the decoder installed on your webserver, free loaders are available here: http://www.ioncube.com/loaders.php
Are the license prices fair?
I've decided to make the calculation of the price public to give you a better idea how my earnings per hour are reduced by external factors:
1. 1200 € crowdfunded
2. 1200 € - 19% Value-Added-Tax (VAT)
3. 1008,40 € - 30% income tax
4. 775,71 € - fix costs 1 month (Webserver, apartment, health insurance)
5. -29,29 € + 1200 € own money investment
sum: 1170,71 € for 1 month reserved for working on that plugin
The following opportunity costs aren't calculated yet and are marked as "customer relationship marketing costs" in my business plan for crowdfunding customers:
- free instalation service
- 1 Year of free support
- care for compatibility updates
When I'll get more than 1200 € crowdfunded, I'll invest extra time to enhance the feature base of that plugin! In sum we are talking between 120 hours of work (1200 €) and 300 hours of work (3000 €).
So break even for me is reached when license earnings go over 6000 € mark.
Finally, compared with WordPress, there is only a small market out there with drupal users, I can not sell a license for just 10 bucks ;)
Can I change the domain or IP address retroactive?
Until the BETA state: yes. When the final is released, there is no possibility to change the licensed domain or IP address anymore. The reason is the LIFETIME vailidity of the license for usage AND updates. I don't want to implement a blacklist or call-back function which could conflict with yor LIFETIME license anytime.
